We all do stupid things for our mothers. It's just a fact. The purpose of this blog is to archive my stupidity and laziness so my mother can laugh at me (and sometimes with me) by simply logging on to see what I am up to with my garden. You see, my mother is a Garden Drill Sergeant. "Weed this. Water this. Plant this here like this." Let me be clear; I do not live with my mother. She just feels compelled to share her wisdom and experience with the less fortunate (i.e. ME). Neither of my siblings garden so I get all of the agricultural advice. And she knows what she is talking about. She is very logical, analytical and most times correct (Can I give a shout out to my overachiever baby sister who is a mirror image of my mother!). She is a fixer. If something is wrong she fixes it, if she doesn't know how she researches it and then fixes it. When all else fails she calls the Master Gardeners Hotline provided by our local county extention and (say it with me)...she fixes it. The only time I called the hotline was to complain that my potato plants were growing what I thought were cherry tomatoes and I was a little freaked out. (Needless to say I was wrong but I did have the Master Gardener stumped for a bit.) This is only my fourth year of gardening and unlike my mother I am what I like to call creative and whimsical. She calls it unorganized and lazy. I tried to explain that talented and creative people work in spurts to no avail. But she is right I am lazy. Not at the beginning of planting season though. I LOVE to plant veggies. I LOVE to eat fresh veggies. Anything in between kind of makes me squeamish. So this is for you Mom, I hope you enjoy being able to rehash and relive any new moments of whimsy that may come this season. And if anybody else happens to stumble on to this little blog I hope you can find some joy and humor in the numerous errors to come.

Then God said, "Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds." And it was so.
